What Should You Do When Your Child Has COVID-19 Symptoms?
Student and Family Guidance
Updated: July 27, 2021
COVID-19 symptoms include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or
body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or
diarrhea. Upon recognition of these symptoms, families are required to do the following:
-
Keep sick children at home. By doing so, our schools will have a more “normal” school year.
-
Contact your school nurse about your absence.
-
The school nurse will communicate regularly with your family about your child’s condition.
-
Do not send your child to school for any reason during a period of quarantine, isolation, or while you are sick.
- Obviously ill students will be sent home.
- If your child is tested for COVID-19, communicate that to the school nurse. When you receive results,
communication is critical so our COVID-19 mitigation plans are targeted and efficient.
If a member of your household is tested for COVID-19, keep your child home and contact your school nurse for more
information about the next steps.
